John Noolan

Many of you will have danced with, or met Sandra Noolan. She was working for us as an Instructor in Adelaide until she moved to Queensland with her husband to be near her family. She continues to run very successful classes for us up near Brisbane, should you be visiting there.
John (her Husband) had developed Dementia and was unable to be cared for at home. He has been happily living in a care facility near Brisbane for a number of years now, and last week passed away peacefully in his sleep. Those that knew him will remember his friendship, humor and dedication to his work.
Our thoughts are with Sandra and her family.

Keep On Dancing TV Program

Recently the ABC ran a two part TV program for its Catalyst series called "Keep On Dancing".
It was about an experiment run in Sydney taking 9 ordinary and culturally diverse seniors and teaching them a 10 minute dance routine over 12 weeks under medical supervision. This constituted 24 lessons of 2 hours each, with some additional sessions to deal with individual special needs, The sessions culminated in an on stage performance at a theater for family and friends.
Their health and mental abilities were measured before and after the training to see if there was any change in their welfare. The show detailed each of the individuals circumstances and issues and any changes they developed.
The changes were quite dramatic and positive in all cases. It has generated quite a few inquiries to our classes, which is excellent.
If you have the opportunity to see it, it is certainly very interesting. You can see a replay if you have a "smart TV" or portable device using the ABC iView app.

Here are the dates for the rest of the 2022 socials. They are:
Sunday 6 th November - 1.30 pm-5.00 pm (THIS SUNDAY)
Sunday 11th December - 1.30 pm-5.00 pm (XMAS Breakup Social)
There are no limits to numbers any more, so tickets sold beforehand are not required. Just come along and give it a go. Cost is $ 15 and all socials this year are held at the West Croydon RSL, Corner of Rosetta St and Herbert Rd. We will explore some Saturday dates next year as has been suggested by some dancers.
Meals are available from Noon as usual, please support Ivy's Kitchen so they continue to provide the meals for us.

Over the last few Years we have been running a few classes through the December/January holiday season for those wanting to keep up their dancing over the break. Unfortunately this Year, the instructors have all decided that they need a break from what has been a very difficult Year. So we will not be running them. Thank you Johnathon for giving up your holidays for the last few Years, you deserve a well earned rest and recuperation.
All classes will be resuming around the first week in February. Most classes will be closed after the 11 th December. Please speak to your instructor about actual dates for your specific class.
