Christmas Dance!
Yeah I know what you are thinking... you have to be kidding, thinking about Xmas already. Well, this one is going to be special, so we wanted you to put it in your calendar early so you don't miss out. It will be on 2 nd November from afternoon to early evening, and will be at the Goodwood Community Centre, 32 Rosa St, Goodwood.
It will be of similar structure to our 25 th Birthday social that was so successful last year. Tickets will be pre-sold, as there will be a catered dinner included in the price.
We have a group of 30+ line dance guests joining us from Sydney. They are on a tour of South Australia, and this will be their final night before returning home, so we hope to give them a great send off.
We will give you more info when it gets closer, but mark it in the diary so you don't miss out.

2019 Social Schedule
Tentative dates for the 2019 Sunday Socials at the 7 th Day Adventist Hall, Ballville St, Prospect are:
17 th March, 28 th April, 2 nd June, 21 st July, 8 th Sept, 8 th Dec
These still havn't been confirmed, as there is some renovations to the hall planned this year, but we are assuming that we can run them till we are told otherwise.

Club 25 th Birthday Shirts
The last of the birthday shirts are being received on Sunday, so if you have not yet received them, then they should be with your instructor within the week.
We also have a small selection of leftover shirts due to guessing sizes for the initial order incorrectly. We have 1 size 10, 1 size 14 and about 6 size 12 ladies shirts available if you want another or if you missed out on the original order. Please contact the office if you would like to purchase one of these remaining souvenirs.

Public Holidays
Don't forget that classes do not break for the school holidays (except for Gumeracha). We do not run classes on public holidays however, so be aware of the Easter and Anzac day public holidays.

Our Queensland Branch
Many of you may not know that one of our instructors, Sandra Noolan, moved to Queensland a few years ago. I am happy to report that she is now running a class near Brisbane and has over 20 dancers clamoring to join her. She is using the same terminology and music as us, so if you happen to be up that way on a Wednesday, call in and surprise her. Details of the class are on our web site.

Clarence Gardens Classes
Due to a handbag theft at the hall (not from any of our classes), the venue manager has asked that we keep the toilet / carpark entrance closed once classes commence. As an alternative if you are running late, there is a door alongside the hall which has a doorbell next to it. Press the doorbell, and the instructor will let you in. I know its a bit of a pain, but we would rather keep the venue manager happy so we can continue to use the hall.

New Crossover Class starting...
Due to the popularity of the Transition class concept (to help people migrate from Easy to Mainstream level classes), we are creating a new class level called "Crossover". This class is to assist people in migrating from Mainstream to Intermediate.
It is to be run on a Thursday Morning at the St Francis Community Center, Clarence Gardens at 10.30 am. The time slot has been occupied by an existing Mainstream class, and that class will change to Crossover for a trial of 5 weeks, at which time we will decide if the experiment is a success and plan accordingly.
I have confused people a little with our advertising. I have told the mainstream class that it starts on the 28 th of March, and I have on the flyer that it starts on the 21 st of March... Oops..
So... I will run a combination of Mainstream Revision and Crossover programme on the 21 st with a full crossover programme on the 28 th. Sorry for the confusion.

Retired IPads and Tablets
As you probably all know, a group of us are going on a cruise to Papua New Guinea in August (there are still a few cabins available if you want to join the 57 of us going). Part of the trip includes a tour of Alotau on the mainland. We will be visiting the villages and schools, and I have a message from our tour guide Cathy.
"Hi PNG is a poor country and if any of our visiting friends would like to bring used items to the villages, school or hospital, they are more than welcome. The school asked if our visitors were bringing something they would like to know of the possibility of buying a USED tablet. They need a large one to show the class things. They aren't expecting that, but if they wanted to, I know they would be grateful. Anyway, they will be treated the same either way. They are lovely people. Cathy"
So.. I interpret that the school would like a tablet to assist the teacher in class. Rather than buying one for them, I thought I might ask if there are any retired iPads or tablets out there that are looking for a new home.
If so, please let your instructor know. It would be appreciated. We do not have the luggage space for lots of stuff, so this might be a nice way to help out.

Social Media and Advertising
We have a Facebook page, and would appreciate any of you that are on Facebook to "like" and "share" our page, to maximise our exposure.
This should help to continue to build the classes up so they can continue into the foreseeable future.
We have found that "word of mouth" is still the best advertising we can get, in order to break the "Yee Haa" preconceptions that the uninitiated seem to have about our wonderful past-time. So spread the word.
